prehistoric jewellery

I developed an interest in the prehistory of Finland and, in particular, the Viking Age (approx. 800-1100 aD) after I moved to Eura in 1998. There are several Viking Age cemetery areas in Eura, and the object recovered from the inhumation graves have shed considerably light on the life of the Iron Age people. More than 1,300 graves of the most important cemetery, Luistari, have been excavated; in one third of them objects were found.

These prehistoric items have inspired me in making pieces that are not exact replicas of Iron Age jewellery but carry the same symbolism, form and spirit as the original ones.
